GREG THE INTERN!!

WE FOUND THE BEST INTERN!!

Here is his take on being an intern to the two headed monster that is The Future of Frances Watson....

The search for a great internship can be more of a plight than pleasure. As a fashion communication student I’ve experienced several uninspiring and some downright depressing positions as an intern. I was actually avoiding the search for an internship at the time I sauntered into The Future of Frances Watson, but when I looked around the charming boutique I fell in love. Boys clothes! They actually have clothes for boys, one of the only shops west of Bathurst that has affordable boy digs. The place is exceptional, beautiful from the infrastructure to the display details, it was calling out to me! Also they design and sell their own line of modern, easy-to-wear women’s clothing. Not to mention, the warmth I received from Kerry as I entered. She cheerfully greeted me and explained the on goings of Frances Watson.

I had to know more. I knew I wanted to learn about small businesses within the fashion industry and here was the gleaming example of a small start-up with major appeal. My original feelings of interning were abolished. I emailed asking if they needed a communications intern, to my surprise Kerry offered an interview.

And so began my internship at the future of Frances Watson. I’m still fresh meat, my first two weeks have been a great learning experience. Meg and Kerry are inspiring gals. From the get go I have witnessed them working as a team, giving feedback and making decisions while involving me, the wide-eyed intern. I was asked if it was just business related things I was interested in, nay I said. I’d like to learn about it all! Not only will I learn about the day-to-day operations of a small business, I am also learning about the intricate creative process of a designer. I’ve accompanied the girls on their fabric sourcing mission, experienced product ordering, was introduced to the ways of social media and have witnessed the surface operations of a small business. I’m looking forward to helping Meg and Kerry with this new baby while learning what it takes to own a small business. I suggest you come see what The Future has in-store ;)
